It is that time of year again – progress report card season! Teachers are formulating descriptive feedback for their students in each subject area.
November is a natural point in the school year, where progress is evident and a result of the learning and hard work that students have demonstrated thus far. The goal of continuous growth and development remains throughout the year. As teachers assess student progress, they also gain deeper insight into each students’ learning skills and work habits. It is here where the magic happens!
For many students, skills like organization, task initiation, self-regulation, and independent work can present challenges. As a result, students may fall behind in their class work, not due to a lack of understanding and knowledge of the content, but because they haven’t yet developed the learning skills and work habits to set them up for success.
We can teach students these habits as effectively as we can teach students curriculum content. When students master these skills, learning falls into place more smoothly, paving the way for consistent growth and achievement.
